K-3080 Entertainment was founded in 1978 as K-3080 Records by Armand Melbourne. He was 19 at the time. His parents were wealthy. He had fallen in love with a night club singer and decided that he wanted to form a record company to produce her album. Armand's parents gave him the money he needed, thinking that it was only another one of Armand's impulses. Armand hired on of the hottest producers at the time, Stephen Peabody to help him run the record label. Armand bought a small office building at 3080 Kingston Road. He set-up his company at this location. He renovated the office building to include offices, a rehearsal room, and a state-of-the-art studio. With the help of Stephen Peabody, Armand had set-up a first class business. Armand let his girlfriend, Amanda Jacobs, name the record company. She decided on K-3080 Records after Armand said he didn't like her first two idea, Melbourne Records and ACM Records. K-3080 Records was born. Within the first six months of its opening, K-3080 Records had signed four other artists besides Amanda Jacobs. The artists were Dianne Colby, Michael Sanford, Daniel Traylor, and the Robinettes. In 1980, a staff was hired. Armand Melbourne served as the President. Stephen Peabody served as the Vice-President. Betty Green was hired as the Vice-President of Talent. Hakeem Clinkscale was hired as the Vice-President of Distribution. Two other people were hired as assistants. K-3080 Records released albums for all of its artists. All of the albums were successful. In late 1980, Betty Green who was a devout Christian had discovered two Gospel artists that she wanted to sign. Armand did not feel that K-3080 Records was a label that would be suitable to promote Gospel music. He turned Betty down. Betty went back several times. She was turned down on all of those occasions. Betty took Armand to hear Ruth Coleman and the Coleman Singers perform. Armand was very impressed. He decided that having Gospel artists on the label would be a good idea. He discussed the idea with Betty. Together they decided to start a new label to produce only Gospel music. Betty decided to call the label Mo'Sound Gospel Records. In November of 1980, Mo'Sound Gospel Records was formed. The first artist to sign with Mo'Sound Gospel was a singer named Beverly Wiyze. The second artist to sign was Ruth Coleman and the Coleman Singers. In 1982, Mo'Sound Gospel bought out Gospel Sounds Records. This increased Mo'Sound Gospel's roster by five artists. K-3080 Records bought out Jazz and Such Records in 1983. K-3080 Records also bought out Rap You Tite Records in 1986. K-3080 Records became a part of K-3080 Entertainment in 1990. K-3080 Entertainment is the biggest entertainment company in the state of Maddocha and the surrounding area. All of the original staff members of K-3080 Records are still with K-3080 Entertainment except Betty Green who died in 2000. K-3080 Entertainment currently has a number of artists signed. K-3080 Entertainment is steady PRODUCING THE HOTTEST SOUNDS THAT YOU WILL EVER HEAR. |
